The CBD market is wildly competitive. So it was extremely important to ensure the brand's visual presence would support its objectives, reinforce its positioning goals, and help to differentiate in a way that communicates core messaging and value points.

 

Research and discovery lead us to colours, attributes and styles that weren't really being utilized by other brands. Everything was built on a solid foundation of clear values, vision and purpose.This approached nested well with our target audience analysis, which revealed numerous opportunities for messaging and visual language that had comparatively low competition.

Design inspiration was taken from elements of psychedelia, brutalism and 70's album covers. The "Space Explorer" is a 3D rendered, full modifiable avatar created to provide a human element that expresses the explorative, light-hearted nature of the brand. The Explorer is neutral of indelible identity markers such as gender and race, but also direct and unique enough to resonate with the audience. It will be featured heavily in future ads and designs.

This project included several design sprints in that allowed us to successfully deliver lighting-fast results in record time.

We also operated as part of the development team to create the brand's initial pitch deck.

One Small Step... 

One Giant Leap!

A secondary but critical challenge was that in Canada, at the time of the project, rules regarding white-labelled CBD products prohibit the use of certain kinds of labelling, graphics and branding. This presented significant challenges with regards to packaging, ads and overall presentation.

To solve this we worked with an extended team to understand the needs and requirements. We worked to design "safe" versions of the packaging that helped the brand secure funding, in addition to being ready for use in Canadian sales.

Evanesce produces innovative, high-CBD inhalable products that do not contain THC. The Evanesce product suite is groundbreaking in an industry that is generally considered to be saturated by an over-abundance of products. They create high-CBD vapes formulated to produce an array of effects, and which contain the highest levels of CBD available on the market. The brand has achieved OCS Canada listing, and is one of the few truly white label products of its kind.

We developed Evanesce's verbal and visual identity, brand strategy, a dynamic set of packaging, and B2B sales collateral to successfully position them in the highly competitive CBD market.
